The luxury electric SUV market is filled with a wide range of available choices; Genesis and Tesla each offer two options, making it difficult to choose which model best meets your needs. To help narrow the search, we’ll provide a brief overview of each vehicle’s performance and specifications.

Genesis and Tesla’s Electric Luxury SUVs

Both Genesis and Tesla offer impressive electric vehicles that blend performance with luxury. Below, we’ll explore each company’s electric SUVs to help you choose the perfect vehicle for your needs.

Genesis GV60

The Genesis GV60 is a compact luxury electric SUV with an impressive design and cutting-edge features.

Depending on trim, the GV60 can travel up to 378-399 km on a single charge. Recharging is quick, too: the GV60 takes just 18 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% while using a Level 3 350 kW charger, or 73 minutes while using a Level 3 50 kW charger. When using a Level 2 charger, the GV60 takes 7 hours and 5 minutes to fully recharge.

Inside, the GV60 offers a futuristic yet cozy interior featuring Nappa leather seats, aluminum detailing, and a striking Crystal Sphere shifter that lights up to signify readiness. The GV60 also features a range of cutting-edge biometric features, including the ability to unlock the vehicle with facial recognition or start the car with a fingerprint.

Additionally, the vehicle comes with an extensive range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which assist drivers in keeping passengers safe. It’s no surprise that the GV60 earned the prestigious Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in 2025, highlighting Genesis’ commitment to protecting drivers and passengers alike.

Genesis Electrified GV70

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is a spacious midsize luxury electric SUV that seamlessly combines power and comfort.

The Electrified GV70 can travel up to 402 km on a single charge and provides a good balance between power and range. Plus, it is quick to charge. The Electrified GV70 takes 19minutes to recharge from 10% to 80% while using a 350 kW Level 3 charger or 73 minutes while using a 50 kW Level 3 charger. Alternatively, the luxury SUV takes about 7 hours to fully recharge using a regular Level 2 charger.

Inside, the Electrified GV70 exudes elegance with its leather seats and minimalist dashboard design. The spacious cabin boasts a heated haptic steering wheel, slim air vents, and a dual- or available tri-zone climate control system, making it perfect for those seeking utility and comfort.

Additionally, the Electrified GV70 shares the GV60’s commitment to safety. In 2025, the IIHS awarded the Electrified GV70 a Top Safety Pick+ rating in recognition of its safe design. The Electrified GV70 also comes with a comprehensive ADAS suite.

Tesla Model X

Tesla’s flagship SUV, the Model X, offers a range of up to 539-566 km (depending on trim). Although Tesla does not disclose how long it takes to fully recharge the Model X, the company claims that a Level 3 Supercharger can provide enough energy within 15 minutes for up to 288 km worth of driving. For comparison, the GV60 and Electrified GV70 take about 18 minutes to recharge from 10% to 80% using a 350 kW Level 3 charger, which provides enough energy for about 264-281 km worth of additional driving.

The Model X boasts a sleek design with its minimalistic cabin. It also offers a variety of ADAS features. That said, the vehicle’s technology-focused controls may feel less intuitive than Genesis’ controls, which are relatively traditional in contrast.

Tesla Model Y

Tesla’s Model Y is a midsize luxury SUV that offers a range of about 526 km. Tesla does not disclose how long it takes to charge the Model Y using a Level 2 charger, but claims that a 250 kW Level 3 Tesla Supercharger can provide enough energy to the Model Y within 15 minutes for up to 253 km worth of highway driving.

The Model Y has a spacious and minimalistic interior. However, its simple design might not appeal to those seeking the refined materials and craftsmanship typically associated with luxury vehicles.

Like the GV60 and Electrified GV70, the Tesla Model Y received a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS in 2025.
